How's that for a title???  Not good huh?   I sound like Fat Albert.  Did you watch that tv show?  Yes you did! Don't lie!!!   HEY, HEY, HEYYYYY!!!  In my gravely voice.  Ok, let's move on.

I promised you some PKM and some Bee In My Bonnet fabric. So without further adue.

I fell in love with both of these girls fabric lines.  I think they were the best two at market. I'm just sayin.  That's my opinion.  And it should be yours!!!  

First up is my peep Miss Pam!!!  It's just that I've known her for several years now. Hunka and I first met Miss PKM when she worked at a quilt shop in her area years ago. Before she became FAMOUS I might add. See PKM everything happens for a reason.  Yoru probably famous because you know me and Hunka.  OK  maybe not!! But I can dream can't I?  I still remember when we walked into the quilt shop and she was in there. She knew it was up right away.  

Her booth had these adorable life size posters. I think Miss Nancy No Blog even begged for one.  But Pam said she too would like one. I think you know who will get one first. Sorry No Blog. Keep on dreamin. This was only two of them.  Toooo dang cute. 

Pam and Holly's booth was just so cute you wanted to move in.  I think it is awesome that Holly did this fabric line for Pam.  It's to die for.  I hear her best friend Elizabeth did alot of work for her getting it ready and making lots of the goodies that were given away.  Which were FAB U LOUS!!!!!!!!  I even went back and asked for extras so I could give them away to one of you. 

There you can see three of the posters.  And look at that delicious table full of goodness.  Nancy and I wanted to scoop it all up and bring it home. But we were pretty sure there were cameras watching us. You know we looked suspicious.  Like stalkers or something.  

You know how I have a fetish with RED. Well, this fabric line fit right in with my RED. I ordered.............let's just say ALOT. And yes I got the panel with all the cute kittens 

Look at that pinwheel.  I hear Miss Pam made these up while in her hotel room.  What a company girl!!!  And the basket of Strawberries.  We did want to heist one of those but we didn't. Maybe Miss PKM can send me a few berries. Ok yes I am shamelessly begging here.  And an autograph on my berries would be most appreciated.  Just sayin. She is famous now you know?  Not that she wasn't before but she now has F.A.B.R.I.C

Look at all of that. It's like a candy store isn't it?

These are her strawberry's that she's going to have a free pattern for I think.

And these are the lovely fabrics. Well some of them.  Guess which colors I bought?  If you guessed red and blue you win!!!  Ok you don't really win, but you win!!!  

So we went to the booth on Day one and no PKM. She was out hobknobing with someone I'm sure.  So we continued stalking, um searching for her until we found her.  And she was so happy to see us I have to say. She didn't make us feel like we were rushing her or bothering her.  That was very nice because we know she was busy.  You can tell that she really appreciates our business. And that is very important to me.  

Why oh why do I always feel like an amazon next to everyone?????????

Now let's move on the Lori's delicious booth too.  Also known as my new favorite fabric company. Riley Blake. Talk about nice people. They could not be any nicer.  So down to earth.  It's a cute little famiy business and I will be purchasing a lot from them.

So this is one side of their booth.  Could you not toss a quilt on the grass and have yourself a little picnic right there??? I'm so hoping I win one of those bikes. Yes they are doing a give away and I entered. PLEASE let me win that bike.  

Do you not love that tree?  I'm going to grow one of those. Fabric and all.

STOP IT!!!!   STOP IT NOW!!!!!!!!  This tree was too cute for words.  

Here's Lori's part of the booth.   I'm in love with that cake quilt. I have all of her patterns on order. I'm waiting for the arrival so I can have a ceremony.  lololol    I'll invite you when I have it ok?  Look at that pillow.  Bestillmyheart!!!

This apron has always been one of my favorite designs that Lori did. My friend Kris did this as a BOM at her shop and I made a few of the blocks. This was one that I did. Mine is a smaller version.  

This my mini me apron.  I still love it!!!  I'm going to frame that one block and put it in my kitchen.

In case you don't know Lori, she is the one second from the left standing next to Sherri.  I guess I didn't get a photo of her and I together.  Darn it. I talked to her several times but just never did it.  I have several of her new fabric line on my website. I love the one with cherries. It's a nice clean white background with real looking cherries all over it.

Oh yesssss there's more.   So here goes.  Ill show you some of the patterns I bought for my website.  

This is Pat from Silver Thimble and I've ordered more of her patterns.  I'll be starting her Comfort & Joy BOM in June.  

She has these cute greeting cards now and oh yes I ordered them. I can't wait for them to arrive.  One was cuter than the other. So I pretty much ordered them all.

Then there was Meg from Crabapple Hill Designs.  I bought several of her new designs too and they are on the website. This is Joyful Poinsettias.  So so pretty. She used some glittery, sparkly threads in her designs and I ordered them. They will be in soon I'm hoping. 

So pretty.

Ordered this. And wanna make it too. I need four hands so I can stitch faster. This is Trim the Tree.  You know you wanna make it too.

Wouldn't this pillowcase  be adorable on your bed at Christmas???  yea I ordered it too.

Yes I did order a pattern that didn't have red in it.  Matter of fact, I ordered a few.  I've sold out of some and reordered, sold out again. More coming!!  The Witchs boot one is very popular.  More are on the way.  

Don't ya love it?  You guessed it,  I want to stitch this too. 

I also ordered this new linen fabric from Lecien. She has used it in her stitchery so why not right?  I can't wait for this to arrive too. Along with the new sparkly threads. 

How about some Hatched and Patched goodies?  This quilt is in Anni's new book Some Kind of Wonderful. Have you ordered yours yet? I've restocked these once again too so if you dont' have one you still can.

And thanks to everyone for the nice emails and text messages checking on us. We are doing ok. The weather has been awful here.  I spent most of this afternoon in the basement. The sirens would go off, then stop, go off again, then stop. I think it happened three times in a row.  So I just stayed downt here and sewed.  We've had tornado's, hail, wind,  how much more are we going to get?  The poor people in Joplin, Missouri were hit very hard. It's just the saddest thing ever.  The town was demolished.  Looks like a war zone.  Please say prayers for these people. I can't imagine what they are going through.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

More market fun

Are you ready for more?  I hope so because I have lots more photos to show you.  And you know I took them for you.   

Wanna go to Sample Spree?  Of course you do.  Here we go.  I think Nancy is ready. What do you think?  She and I had the best time.  We laughed and laughed until we couldn't laugh anymore.   I'm so lucky to have a BFF like her.  Just had to say that.  After thinking that I might have lost her just 7 weeks ago makes you really appreciate a good friend like Nancy.  

We were almost first in line. Of course that meant that we sat there on the floor for about 5 hours.  It went really fast though. We talked to our friends that were there, we brought stitchery to do but I don't think we worked on it.  We texted with our friends at home that couldn't come. Had to keep them updated.  We ate, we laughed, well heck we had a party in line.  :)   Before we knew it the doors were open and everyone was running.  

Here we are sitting, and sitting, and sitting.  I even laid down awhile. Nancy has that photo I think.  I keep telling her to post her photos and change her blog header. I am really sick of seeing those snow people.   Yes I told her that!!! This is our friend Brenda and her sister Sandy.  Our pajama party girsl!!!  We were all staying at the same hotel. There room was right across from ours.  

Some more of our friends getting ready for Sample Spree.  Sherry,  Lori Holt of Beeinmybonnett. Who also has one of the best fabric lines available at market.  I can not wait to get mine.  Vickie and Kim.  Kim gave us the cutest ring.  Yes a ring!!  It is special and all we had to do was say the code word. Which I could not remember.  I begged for my ring ok??

Here we go!!!   It's a mad rush.  I've been to so many of them that I don't rush anymore. They have enough for all of us really.  And some of those women get nasty!! Pushing, shoving, etc. And you say all quilters are nice.  NOT!!!!   

So can you see my friend Vickie???  She's the one that I put a crown on.  I kept waiting for her to look when I took the photo but obviously she was too busy finding her patterns. 

ooohhhhh she's looking.  Nope she's wiping her eye. Probably because her crown is falling down.

Ahhhhhhh there she is. She still didn't see me so she'll be surprised to see this.  I'm calling her Queen Victoria now. 

The Sweetwater girls.  Don't you like that look on her face? She's saying WTH are we doing?????????????  I also think she's saying, "Can we get out of here?"

Not sure what booth this was but I thought it was cute.

This was us back at the hotel.  Some drunk guy was talking to us and asked if we wanted him to take a picture.  Ummmmmmmm,  ok????   

This is the way we both felt.  I felt like this for the first four days I was home too.  

Day 1 of Market.

Found a new block of the month for my website.  Can't wait till I get the patterns so I can get going on it.  It's perfect isn't it?  

I'll just show you some of the things we saw. 

This is Gail Pan of Gail Pan Designs.  She is hysterical. We were lucky enough to go to dinner with her on the last night that we were in town.  Her and her friends joined us at Benihana.  They loved it and had never seen anything like that in Australia or Norway.  She's too funny.  I love her designs.  This was her first time to Quilt Market and I think she did real well so hopefully she'll be back again.

We had FUN!!

Nancy and I are back from market.  It was another successful, fun trip.   Went by way tooo fast.  I have to say I was beat after this market.  Maybe I'm not as young as I once was???   I felt like my body had been ran over.  Literally for the first few days back home everything on me hurt.  We walked, and walked, and walked.   

Nancy and I met up on the plane in Las Vegas so we got to fly together to Salt Lake City. Hunka hooked us up with some free drinky coupons. So we decided to enjoy some beverages and chat for the last hour of our flight.  We got into Salt Lake City, got our shuttle to the hotel and checked in.

Our hotel I picked out was called The Peery. It's over a 100 years old and used to be a ......are you ready for it????  A Brothel!!  The bellman told us that on each floor there used to be one bathroom and shower and everyone had to share it.  Jeez I said please tell me that isn't the way it is now.   It was a very cool place I thought. Nancy and I loved it.  Our friends Brenda,  Kelly Ann,  Sandy, Roseann,  and others stayed there too. We were all put on the same floor.  Each night Sandy, Brenda, Nancy and I had a little pajama party in our rooms.  Showed our goods from the day.  We all felt like we were back in high school.  Loved every minute of it.

I loved this staircase.  There were only two floors in this hotel. Other than the basement floor. 

The lobby. I think that lady in the photo might have been a regular here back in the day if you know what I mean.

Here we are!!!  Let's go inside.

That is my new bag Nancy made me.  It's so cute. I love it. She used those big O rings for the ribbon/scarf to go through.  It's a great size bag too.  

Pretty towels.  Just like on a cruise ship.  haaaaa   I forgot to take a picture of the bath mat. She folded it like a clam.  So cute.

The bathroom was huge!! I loved the floor. Only there was a step up, a big step up. And we both kept waiting to see who would trip going in or fall going out.  Well I win!!!  One night Nancy was asleep and I stepped off the step,  well fell off the step.  LOLOL!!!!   I think she laughed then said,  "are you ok?".  

We checked in. dropped off our bags and went out for a drink and some food.  There was a neat place right across the street.  Salt Lake Brewery.  Or as Kelly Ann loves to say Squatters.  

This was some good Artichoke dip.  My MY MY!!!

Delish.

We passed these everyday walked to the convention center.  Which I called the Cow Palace and it was the Salt Palace.   Jeez!!!   I asked someone on the street, which way to the Cow Palace. They looked and me and said,  You mean the Salt Palace.  Why yes, yes I do mean that.  

I wish my tulips would have bloomed.  Hopefully next year. 

I'd love to have a bunch of this one.  Isn't it beautiful?

To Market To Market we go.

Finally tomorrow is the day!!!  My BFF Nancy and I are headed to Salt Lake City for a weekend full of fun, shopping, happy hours, parties, and whatever else we can find to do.  We will be attending the Moda party for sure. The theme this year is Country Fair! I got the cutest invitation to the party.   I have just the perfect outfit to wear.  Only thing missing would be cowboy boots but I don't own any and my poor feet could not stand it if I did.  Cowgirls can wear flip flops too can't they??    Nancy and I meet up on the plane in Vegas, and I can't wait.  Hunka gave me plenty of drink coupons to keep us busy for that short flight into Salt Lake City.  Then, we arrive just in time for what else but Happy Hour!!!!  Early to bed though because the next day is Schoolhouse and we don't want to miss that. We get to meet lots of the designers and go sit in on their schoolhouse classes.  Lots of free samples given, great info on the new products, and just meeting them!!  I won't be able to sleep tonight I just know it.  You can check out my Daisy Cottage blog for updates. Since I'm going to be away I didn't want Hunka to starve so I whipped up some food for him today to keep him busy.  And no I'm still not packed!!!

His favorite dessert is Pecan Pie.  I'm not into making fancy pie crust. I buy the ones premade and slap it in that pie plate.  I'm done!!  It tastes the same and do you really think he cares if it's pretty?   Well there ya go!!!!  He's a MAN!! He's HUNGRY!!  Period!

Voilla!!!  We have a Pecan Pie. I bought him a can of whip cream and he will be a happy man!! He best be only using that can of whip cream on that pie. If you know what I mean!! I'll beat me one man!!!!  

Next up is spaghetti.  Hunka loves my spaghetti. Not quite as much as he loves my Chicken Crotch but it's a close second.  So tonight we're having spaghetti for dinner and he'll have leftovers of this.   

It smells so good.  And tastes even better.  I use sweet Italian sausage only. I used to use half hamburger and half Italian sausage but now I just use all sausage.  My mouth is watering.  I know my pan is old but you know what it is my favorite. I have expensive pots but always go for this one.  Hunka had this from his D-I-V-O-R-C-E (makes me wanna sing that song) and I love it.  You know who (the EX) would hate that I use it all the time.  :)  

Next up is my mother in laws recipe and it's called Chicken Something Different.  And OMGGGGGAWD! Can I tell you if you had smell a computer you would die!!!  You cook this for at least 3 hours very very low in the oven and your whole house smells sooooo good you wanna eat everything in the house while it's cooking.  I'll give the recipe at the end.  Cause I know you wanna make it.  

So this is the base.  Chipped beef and mushrooms. I added the fresh mushrooms. They were not in her original recipe but I say why not??? I know Marcie would approve.  

This is the chipped beef I use.  I think my mother in law might have used the packets you get in the meat section like with lunch meats??? But I like this. It's salty so don't add salt to it ever.  

Now I mix up Cream of Mushrooms soup, a can of mushrooms, and some sour cream.  

Pour that over your bacon wrapped chicken which is sitting on top of that chipped beef and mushrooms.  Is your mouth watering yet??  Trust me and Marcie this meal is to die for!!!! My sweet mother in law wouldn't you astray.  

There ya go!! She's ready to bake at 225 for at least 3 hours. You can cook it even longer if you want.  Even cook it at 200 for hours and hours.  You won't be disappointed. 

I've been doing some planting.  It's been getting warmer and warmer and I've been feeling like planting!!

Hunka made this chair for me years ago.  He used to sell these at my store.  I love the things he makes.  

I love these planters. Hunka bought them for me last year. We looked and looked for these.  Finally he found them.  They fit perfectly on the rail of the deck. 

I love this little tree.  I bought alot of these little plants to do something with.  I'll show you more later. 

Hunka bought this hanging plant for me.  And he even hung this hanger off the deck for it.  I've been feeding it Miracle Grow and it's doing great.  I love the yellow.

My sister Linda and I saw this giant Rosemary bush at Home Depot last weekend.  It smells soooooooo  good.  You can use it to cook too. I use Rosemary all the time to cook with. Now I can just walk out on the deck and snip some.  My sister gave me that pot last year with beautiful plants in it for my birthday.  I'm hoping she makes me another one this year. She is a great gardener. Unlike moi!!

Do you not love this flag??  Isn't that dog freakin cute???  

I love my front porch!!!  Hunka hung the quilt hanger on the porch last year and I love changing it all the time.  I've always wanted a porch swing and I was lucky that when we moved in they left this swing.  I bought the planter there from a little town called Mexico, Mo.  Cute huh?   Do you see the old mailbox? WE bought this at an antique place in San Diego years ago.  

Here is the newest quilt hanger he hung. He made me a ton of these years ago. But in this house I have no where to hang them. So why not the front porch???

Do you like it?? I do!!!  That's what really matters right?  But I bet you like it too.  If you ever need a quilt hanger he can make you one too. Just let me know the size you need and I can send it to you.  He does great work. And has lots of colors he can do them in.  

Now for the recipe:

Chicken Something Different by Marcie Yeager

8 whole breast, (I use chicken thighs) split, skinned and boned. 

8 slices of bacon to roll around each chicken piece.

1 jar of beef or 2 package of chipped beef

2 cans mushroom soup.

1 pint sour cream

1 can sliced mushrooms.

In botton of 9x13 casserole dish, snip beef, place bacon wrapped chicken on top of beef.

Mix together sour cream, mushroom soup, and mushrooms. Pour over the bacon wrapped chicken.  

Bake uncovered at least 3 hours 225degrees.  Keeps well even longer in the oven. 

Then tell me if you liked it or not!!  I know you will love it!!

I love my Mother in law and miss her all the time.  I always think of her when I cook this. 

 

More Sewing Room

Here's more of my sewing mess.  This is what you see when you come down the stairs and look to your right. The door goes out to the koi pond in the backyard.  

I hate those hanging blinds but they sure keep the cold and heat out. 

This is standing at the other end of the sewing room where the tv is in the above photo.

I still have a lot of straightening up to do but I have so much stuff I don't know where to go with it.  I've already started hanging it from the ceilings.  Haaaa  Hunka has added a long white shelf along the wall too so that will get some of the stuff up off the floors and shelfs.  

My cutting table was here but I switched places and put my sewing machine here and moved the table.  I can see the tv much better here. Before it was so far off at the other end of the room.  

If it's a suitcase and it's red I buy it.  They are not easy to find.  

My poor bookcase. It used to be so neat and organized then I moved.  My book were in alphabetical order once upon a time.  No more I'm sad to say.  I hate those wires hanging there too.  We've gotta do something with them.

These are some of my selvages I've saved.  Not sure what I'll do with them but everyone else was saving them, I thought I should too.  haaaa    I've even sent Nancy a bunch of them and I still have tons.  

Some of my fun stuff.  

That little sewing machine I bought at an antique fair in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl years ago. The guy sold it for 20.00. Well it was RED and it was a sewing machine....need I say more?  

Buttons or rick rack anyone?  

All of these shelfs in this little alcove were here when we moved in and I'm so glad they were. I love them.  

These are some more buttons.  Alot of them are in piles in there because the moving guys wrapped the whole thing in heavy paper and stacked it on it's side. NOOOOOOOO.  Needless to say when I opened it buttons came falling all over the place. Like my books, I've not taken the time to sort them all out and put then in order. 

Some of my fun pins and a cute pincushion.  All that I got as gifts.  They make me smile.

And that's it folks!!     I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. I know I sure did.  Wilster made lunch for us and then we all went to this art fair in the park.  Hunka got me a gift certificate to Nordstroms and a very pretty necklace.  Boo gave me flowers and made me something, I'll have to get a picture of  to show you.  It's pretty cool.  Wilster cooked bbq chicken, for lunch so I didn't have to cook.  Can't as for much more than that.  I love my boys!!  I'm a lucky mom.

 

 

 

 

Happy Cinco de Mayo

How's your Cindo de Mayo going?  We always go out for this celebration but decided not to this year.  You know it's Seis de Mayo that will kill you!!   Took me a few years to learn that important lesson.  Plus I have to rest up for next week.

 Nancy and I leave on Wednesday for Salt Lake City for Quilt Market. We are so excited we can not wait.  Our friends Kelly Ann, Brenda,  Roseann,  and others are also staying at the same hotel as us.  I'm seeing some fun happy hours in our future.  Not to mention all the shopping for the website.  I'll be blogging while away but the post will be on my Daisy blog so make sure you check that. I'll be doing give aways so you'll want to make notes and pay attention.  

I've been sewing, well really stitching alot lately.  Here's some of what I've been doing. I love the little Australian patterns. They have the design already stamped for you, no tracing. You just get busy stitching.

This is another one of them.  Love this.  I've made kits for this one. 

This is little. I took the photo close up so it's looks bigger than it is.  This is a kit too.

Awhile ago I took pictures of the rest of my sewing area downstairs.  I posted one part long ago and will post it again too. But first I'll show what I did already. Of course now it's even fuller of fabric!  I'm busting at the seams down there.  Pretty soon hunka is going to have to give up some of his workshop space.  Ok that's not going to happen but I can dream can't I?

Ok, so walking into this part of the basement I am leaving my sewing area which I've shown before.  And next blog post I'll show it again because I've moved it all around again.  Here are one of my walls of trays filled with fabric.  Straight ahead is my cutting table hunka built me years ago.

Hunka thinks that is his resting area.  Over there to the right is some of the bolts of fabric from the website.  

Believe me it is never this clean. You should see it right now!  OHMYGOODNESS!!  Can you say tornado?? 

The floor is totally full of bolts now.  I can't even get near the table until I pick them up and organize again.  

Through that door is forbidden territory. Also knows as the workshop!!!  

This is the other side of the door to hunka's area.  More trays of fabric and bins of fabric I've not unpacked since moving.  

And now we walk back to the sewing area.  The closet there is a cedar closet filled with our winter/summer clothes we aren't using.  It's huge!!  And we have it full!! 

I think I have some room left so I'll show you some of the other side while I was moving things over. 

The door on the left if what we just came out of in the last picture.  The stairs go to our upstairs.  We love the staircase. It is so wide!  It is 5 feet wide.  Makes it nice for taking stuff up and down.  Like when those poor movers were hauling all my stuff down there.  

Walking around the corner to your right. 

Turn around and there's my bathroom. I still am not happy with what I've done in there so I can't show you.  I should say it's Nancy's bathroom and Boo's bathroom.  They are the two that use it the most.  Nancy even has her robe still hanging in there.  Yes Boo did try it on!!  haaaaa

Across from the bathroom is Daisy's room.  Another huge mess. That's why the lights are OFF.

Can you see in there?  Daisy is in there and she is piled high with quilt tops that are UNquilted.  The design wall is full too.  

Sort of a mess huh?   That's my sewing table and as you can see I'm busy.  Well it looks like it anyway.
