I can't seem to keep upright. Since we've moved into this house I have fallen flat on my ...... four times. The last being yesterday. Hunka heard a loud THUD and he thought we were back in Ca. and we just had a 5.8 earthquake. I still don't know why or how I fell this time. Or the last three. But I remember coming out of my coma laying on the concrete. All dirty and bruised. I thought I broke my arm and ankle this time. Thank goodness for all of my double jointed bones. However I have the mother of all bruises on my knee now. As I was lying on the ground with hunka sitting next to me, Miss Madeline was sitting on guard. I'm not sure if she was waiting for the ambulance to come, or embarrassed that her momma fell. Boo says it's the later. He said she didn't want the neighbors to see me on the ground. It was sooo funny seeing how she was guarding us. I'm gonna change her name to Lassie I think. Send help Lassie!! Go get daddy Lassie!! Momma's fallen and can't get up girl. What's that Lassie?? You can't find daddy?? Run Lassie, Run!!!! Oh sorry I got off on a tangent. I think it was the bump on my head.
I saw this little guy, or gal (not sure) BEFORE I fell and bumped my head. Good thing too because I wouldn't believe what I was seeing. We were downstairs setting up my sewing palace when I saw something out of the corner of my eye on my sliding door.
Ok I'm not sure what that orange stuff is he's sliding in. Is frogs .... orange???? And does he or she know I'm watching him ....?? That's anothere question I have. How DO YOU TELL??
Now he's just making a big old mess!!!!
If he's my Prince and he's waiting for a kiss..........well that is just not gonna happen. He needs to learn to be a little cleaner before that can take place. I'm just sayin!!! This is not very Prince like. What with all the orange goo spread everywhere.
More Fauna for your viewing pleasure. This momma bird is getting annoyed at me with the camera. Sorta like my boys. All she does is sit there day in and day out. What a life. Until all those little eggs she's sitting on hatch. Then her works cut out for her. hmmmm wonder if she knows that? I could be doing her a favor.
This is under the deck, right off my sewing room too. Lots of wildlife going on out there.
More fauna!!! Can you stand it??? I'm gonna change my name to Alice in Wonderland. So from now on please refer to me as Alice.
Here's the Koi pond that is right outside my sewing room door. I took this from the bedroom window upstairs.
There is the door going to my sewing room. Can you see all the plants? We have a ton of work to do outside. These people planted so many different flowers. It's really pretty because something new is always blooming. But it all needs trimming. And lots of weeds to pull. I'm thinking fall will be a good time for most of that. We did work all day yesterday out in the yard. This is just a small section of our backyard.
This is leading down to the forest we own. lol Remember the guys that were clearing away the brush? We didn't even know there were stairs leading down there. It's wayyyyy down there too. And no I have not been down there. That's firewood way behind that tree. It's too rotted to use. I'm not sure why they kept it that far away. Now if it's buried in snow.............you know where I'm going with this don't you?? First off all I'd have to slip on my new polka dotted boots and then try and get down there into the forest just to get me some wood and THEN try to get back up that hill with the wood. And with the way I'm falling these days, hunka may never see me again. I'd be buried down there in 3 feet of snow.
This tree is to the left outside my kitchen window.
And to the right is the white version. See my window wayyyy up there???
I'll be back tomorrow with more pics of my flora!! Maybe I'll toss in a little fauna too. Just for your viewing pleasure. Time to get busy. Yesterday was actually hunkas first full day of retirement. He has been on vacation for the last 5 weeks. He's enjoying every minute of not having to work. After 35 years at one place he deserves it. Happy Retirement Hunka!!!!! And please don't forget I'm retired too. :-) Yes I know I've BEEN retired for years. But that's besides the point. I still want a gold watch too. Make it 4 karat will ya?? And maybe just a sprinkling of diamonds thrown in. Sorry, the bump on the head again. Makes me ramble.
Have a wonderful day in your wonderland.
Hugs, Alice

Have you been licking those frogs? Just askin'. SO are you able to stand upright but then fall or do you have trouble sometimes with balance? I think it might be time to find a new family doctor. I get vertigo all the time ever since my last surgery because my left ear never seems to dry out and if I get water in there then I have days where I have to hold on to walk, but that's just inner ear stuff. Anything like that? Or do you just black out and fall?
Yep I'm voting doctor visit! Thanks for all the pictures of the cool animals and the fabo backyard!

Hell I am with you as regard falling over. I think it may be something to with menopause also, its just like when you have the vacant moments and then think -what was I doing or what'd you say. I love looking at your garden photos, really lovely.
Posted by: Deb | July 02, 2009 at 07:53 PM
Loved the tour of your property. The tree frog is a cutie...messy yes, but still adorable.
The Rose of Sharon blossoms are outstanding.
Be careful and don't fall anymore..you might break something important...like a leg or an arm.
Posted by: Amelia | July 02, 2009 at 08:00 PM
Holy moley! I hope you're not badly hurt! I think maybe you should trade in your polka dot rubber boots for a pair of gravity boots so you can keep your feet on the ground. Poor Sharon!
That's some garden you have... looks like a lot of work.
I love your new blog look. Very pretty ~ it just yells "Summer's here!"
Posted by: Rachel | July 02, 2009 at 08:06 PM
Get to the doctor straight away young lady...not the emergency room though...way too expensive! And I had to LOL...Hunka thinking he doesn't have to work anymore....!! He is home with you isn't he....I am sure you will keep him busy with installing dust thingy's ...humidifiers............retired.....Ha...Ha...Ha.......you are so funny....and I don't have any issues with falling down with menopause....sounds more like you are blacking out...get yourself sorted GF....you might do some damage to the concrete paths or something next time!
Posted by: Lorraine | July 02, 2009 at 08:32 PM
Maybe you tripped on a box??? I hope you're ok. Those flowers look like my Rose of Sharon shrub (YOU should definitley have one of those) but mine isn't blooming yet -- I didn't think they bloomed until late summer. ??? This will be a fun year for you at a new house -- discovering all of it's secrets!
Posted by: thimbleanna | July 02, 2009 at 08:32 PM
you'll have more then a bruise on your knee if you keep falling down........take care.....
Posted by: Chookyblue | July 02, 2009 at 09:00 PM
Oh Alice, being a city girl I have to tell you that all that Fauna seems pretty cool to me. The only place I have EVER seen bunnies is at the pet shoppe or at the Easter Egg Hunt. LOL!Roaming bunnies? Not a chance! And those fancy frogs that throw up all over your sliders? Well, something nasty had to show up. YOU just had too many cool critters.
Now about that tumble... I'm thinking it might be time to sign you up for one of those med alert "thingies". Doesn't that come right after the gold watch? HMMM Retirement, gold watch and the "I've Fallen and I can't get up" necklace, LOL! It's all part of the Retirement "package" so just do it, LOL!
Posted by: Brenda | July 02, 2009 at 09:17 PM
Hey Alice... Love the scenery! I would say.. I;m just glad the frog is outside..LOL
Take care of yourself!
Posted by: Kim P. | July 02, 2009 at 09:24 PM
ok...LOVE the frog, but that orange goo has me grossed out???? WHAT is it.......reminding me of the movie the BLOB!!!!!
Cupcake, if you keep falling you are gonna have get senior alert....lololololol

Hi there,
I hope the fall thing is just temporary - menopause or not.
Thank you for the tour of your garden, your new house looks great!
Posted by: Shiree | July 02, 2009 at 09:38 PM
I think a helmet and a medic alert necklace should be part of your attire ..... OR..... how about a REALLY cute and well built fireman/paramedic to be at your side at all times???!!!!
Anyhow, hope you're OK and the clumsiness is only temporary !
Posted by: Mary Anne Drury | July 02, 2009 at 09:54 PM
Your flora and fauna pictures are fabulous!
I'd get to a doctor and get the falling down checked out!
Posted by: Cathi | July 02, 2009 at 10:00 PM
Oh, Alice, LOL! I'm sorry you are having trouble staying in the upright position...been there done that. I don't know if it has anything to do with menopause or not, but I went through a bout of falling too. Please get it checked out soon. The last time I fell, I was in a walking cast for 3 months (broke one of the upper bones in my right foot) and had a broken tailbone (nothing they can do for that, so no cast there).
I loved the tour of your new house/property. Lots of cool stuff there to explore.
Posted by: Carol R | July 02, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Thanks for the backyard tour. Get out there and enjoy it! Oh and stop all that falling down stuff, you're retired remember no more stress!!
Posted by: Mistea | July 02, 2009 at 11:40 PM
Get thee to a doctor. That is not good that you are falling, trust me. Love the pictures of the yard and I too want to know what in the world did the frog get into? Your back yard looks fascinating. Just be sure you take crumbs with you so you can find your way back home, lol.
Posted by: Perry | July 03, 2009 at 12:44 AM
Hi Alice!!Everything in your yard is gorgeous!
I have a pink Rose of Sharon, they are pretty, aren't they?!!!
I think Mary Anne has the right idea, okay the helmet and necklace is a good one, but I was thinkin' the fireman! lol
Take care and I hope your clumsiness goes away soon!!!
Posted by: Vickie | July 03, 2009 at 04:19 AM
"Does the menopause make you fall down?" you asked. No, but that should make you go to the doctor. Please.
Love the new, summery "happy" header to the blog. Not so sure about the frog.
Posted by: QuiltSue | July 03, 2009 at 05:10 AM
When you find out more about that frog's goo let us know...curious minds.
Geez...another fall? Doesn't sound right perhaps you ought to have a general physical just to be sure. You just crack me; you'll have to show Madeline Lassie repeats so she gets the idea! LOL
Posted by: Mary Flynn | July 03, 2009 at 05:24 AM
Those are not trees. They are seriously called Rose of Sharon bushes! I have several in my own backyard. As to the falling. I am thinking you might need to cut back. Just sayin'...LOL Mene can only be blamed for soooo much!
Posted by: Angela | July 03, 2009 at 05:31 AM
Yup. Get to the doctor and get checked out. Maybe you have an inner ear problem that is keeping you unbalanced.
The new header is so pretty! Is that your picket fence??
Posted by: Jen | July 03, 2009 at 07:56 AM
Goodness, girl you gotta get in to see a good doctor, I'm thinkin falling so much isn't a normal part of menopause. How are you gonna keep us entertained if your in a hospital bed with a broken body part!!!????? Plus you have all that fabric to use up!! Go girl!!!
Hugs, Christine
Posted by: Christine | July 03, 2009 at 08:24 AM
Yikes, now you're scaring me with the falling.
But those cute rabbits, wow, they are darling. I would love rabbits running around my yard. That I don't have to catch again.
I even like the frog.
Posted by: pam | July 03, 2009 at 09:12 AM
Hiya Alice - I was SOOOO glad to hear that was just a frog! In the first pic, it looked like some kinda nasty snake.
Just how big is your new country? You have all kinds of room there, it looks like.
Posted by: Gwendie | July 03, 2009 at 09:21 AM
Sharon, Have you taken to drinkin'?
I'm just sayin??????
Posted by: Kris Grover | July 03, 2009 at 09:26 AM
Well....LOL...I think it's my 'big boobs' sticking out in front that keep me stumbling around...I can't seem to see over them....I'm never really quite sure where my feet are because I can't see my feet!!!
Oh and my oh my...I love your new header!!!
Posted by: belinda | July 03, 2009 at 10:36 AM
You may have an inner ear infection...seriously. You should go have that checked. Or you might have sugar....that could cause dizziness. Go to the doctor. Gee, I sound bossy. :)
Posted by: Dandelion Quilts | July 03, 2009 at 10:39 AM
Just like Alice to fall thru the rabbit hole.... you're falling. Is it the water? Sharontini's? Yikes- sorry for the boo-boo, but yes please get checked out. And keep us updated. You got so many people lovin' ya *winks*
Your landscape sure is a wonderland. And I love your new header. I miss the wagon one too, but this is nice too!
Hugs & Have a Happy, Safe and Upright 4th! :O)
Posted by: AwtemNymf | July 03, 2009 at 12:47 PM
Dear Alice (aka Sharon),
You been sipping on that Wonderland tea again?? Are you trying to fall down, down, down and follow the rabbit?? Hummm.... don't know that the meno makes you fall, but it can make you dizzy sometimes. Be sure to stay away from artificial sweetners, as they can cause you to black out (and I'm not kidding about that).
Love your little wilderness. I've been enjoying your picture tour. And I love your new header :-)
Have a good one.

Miss Alice, I hate to sound like everybody else, but I agree you should get to a doctor just a little check-up and make sure everything is OK. All your photos are so pretty. Your house looks like a dream come true, with beautiful flowers, trees, and then birds and bunnies too! What else could anybody ask for?
Chris

Mrs. RED,
Are you having any other symptoms? Doesn't sound normal to me!
You know how I worry about you!
HUGS and Kisses for your booboo!
Posted by: Stefanie | July 03, 2009 at 04:48 PM
Glad you didn't break anything. Best wishes for staying upright.
Posted by: Susan Ramey Cleveland | July 03, 2009 at 04:56 PM
OMG, Sharon I did the same thing in December...I landed on my left shoulder and hand and SHOULD have gone to the ER but I didn't. It took almost a month for my hand to get back to normal....
THEN, I turned around the next day and fell down the front stairs. When Jen got home from work and Al told her what happened the only thing she said was "OMG Mom, did the neighbors see you?"
So much for "OMG mom, are you ok?" LOL
I swear meno has somethin to do with it...I walkd backwards into the laundry room the other day and went down like a sack o wheat...I think my equilibrium goes out of whack when I'm flashin!
Love your new header.....
Posted by: Peggy | July 03, 2009 at 05:11 PM
Love the header, very summery!
Falling...probably not a MENopause issue but could be something else, check it out!! I knocked myself out when I fell out of the flowerbed onto the asphalt driveway, once...wacked my hard head really good!!! Head down pulling weeds and stood up too quickly! Try not to pull weeds anymore, so don't have that issue anymore!!
Posted by: blop | July 03, 2009 at 05:19 PM
Hi Sharon! Do you have allergies? Just an idea, but maybe your ears are congested, causing dizzyness? That's happened to me. In any case, a trip to the doc wouldn't be a bad idea! My hubby is one but we're a little out of your way. LOL
Perfect, rose of Sharon trees! That house was meant to be! :-) We have lots of bunnies too...in fact today, a momma was taking her five little babies thru our yard, it was soooo cute! Hubby doesn't think so though, they've been eating our veggie garden. Take care darlin'!

Watch your step Girlfriend! And keep those crazy critters outside where they belong. Jeesh, be careful, willya?
Posted by: Nicole | July 03, 2009 at 07:49 PM
I had several "face plants" when I was at full throttle menopause. Never did break a bone(knock on wood). The most embarassing was in Victoria BC on a busy Saturday!
Posted by: Sharon S | July 03, 2009 at 08:01 PM
LOL, you always make me laugh. BE CAREFUL!!! I am a natural klutz so I have no advice for you, I can trip over air. Loving the polka dot boots in the post before. Wishing you and your family a happy and safe holiday.
Hugs,
Kathy

Always something going on at your house! If you fall one more time, get yourself to a doctor.....but please don't wear the polka dot boots when you go!
Posted by: Karen Beigh | July 04, 2009 at 04:34 AM
Poor Alice you're only supposed to fall down the rabbit hole . Don't really know if menopause causes falling but It's such a good excuse I'll take it thanks !
Posted by: clare bower | July 04, 2009 at 05:38 AM
Wowee - no more falling, woman! Please be careful!! I'm enjoying all your pics of the flora and fauna in your neck of the woods, orange goo and all.
Posted by: Nanna | July 04, 2009 at 06:56 AM
I think majority rules.... go see the doctor and let him/her make your diagnosis. Menopause gets the blame for a lot of things, however you don't want to label this as "just a menopause thing" and then find out later that it's something else more serious. Besides if you break something how are you going to sew!!!!!
Posted by: Maggie | July 04, 2009 at 10:20 AM
Alice, isn't that sweet that you have Rose of Sharon bushes?
I agree with everyone else: go see a doctor, please.
Posted by: Amanda | July 05, 2009 at 05:17 PM
I am not liking this falling down business at all!!!! :-(((((
Posted by: Karol-Ann | July 06, 2009 at 01:33 PM
Oooh I hope you'll post some pictures of all those plants you've got to trim! Love to see what's growing in other people's gardens. The house looks amazing! :)
Posted by: Valerie/Pumpkin Patch Quilter | July 06, 2009 at 04:01 PM
Oh I can't wait to see it all in person it looks wonderful and I just happen to LOVE frogs :) I would catch him and sneak him home lol!! I don't know that I fall exactly but I am always getting bruises that I have no idea where they came from...maybe I fall and then forget lolol!!!
Posted by: Tammy Parker | July 06, 2009 at 10:43 PM
Hi there, I think the falling has to do more with my 50th birthday fun, cuz all I did was laugh as I tried to direct the tube on the river. lol
I fell every time and have bruises and marks to prove. I am having some
pre-meno symptoms and find Black Cohosh Extract helps me.
Enjoy your days!
