Hey there!! Today's my day on the Bloom Quilt Sew Along. Have you started your quilt? That Lori, she's amazing. I don't know how she does all she does. But I'm glad she does what she does.
I'm not making the whole quilt but, I'm making individual blocks into things.
Week #17 is my week for the Bloom Quilt Sew Along and I loved this block, that's why I picked it. I am not into traditional applique so I love the stitch and flip method. I've done this for years. I trace the design, sew about an 1/8th an inch from my sewn line. Once I'm done sewing I trim it leaving another 1/8th of an inch. Then I slit one side, flip it and turn. Iron and you're good to go.
Of course I picked red. Why wouldn't I? I love this little delicate print with the pink and blue on the red. I'd love to have a whole bolt of it. You know you would too.
These little blocks are so much fun. Fast to make too. My favorite thread I have to say is Aurifil. It's not cheap that's for sure so that's the down size. But not having to take two strands apart from 6 using others makes it worth it to me. And you can sew using just one strand. I think that just looks cleaner. I have Lori's hand quilting thread in my Etsy shop. I use this for the buttonhole stitch I do and for my hand quilting. I use other threads too just because I've been collecting threads for years and I just can't toss them.
The colors in this little assortment matches Lori's fabrics perfectly. They just make me happy. I have a few in my Etsy shop and they are discounted if you want to give them a try. But hurry I only have a few of them left.
So These are the two I've made. Wouldn't a quilt made with all red flowers be so cute? Red and yellow matter of fact. The perfect combo in my opinion.
And................. here is my block #17. I absolutely love it. I have so many frames in my sewing stuff and I have a few unfinished ones. Hunka spray painted this one in a soft, flat yellow. It was just perfect for this block and that background.
Thank you to Riley Blake for asking me to be a part of this sew along. I appreciate it so much. I look forward to others you will be having. I love Lori Holt fabrics and of course Riley Blake. If you don't have these template you need them. There are so many different things you can do with them.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you will visit my Etsy shop, Daisy Cottage Goods. I have lots of fabric from Lori Holt and Riley Blake Designs. I also have the new Christmas templates for the sew along Lori will be hosting soon too. I know it's going to be cute.
